Pregnancy Woes

Friday, June 27, 2014

I have to admit - my first pregnancy was pretty smooth sailing. I was extremely tired - actually found out anemic - but other than that I wasn't THAT uncomfortable or have many questions or "issues". But this second time around is kind of rough. I know that there are many, many more serious problems or issues than mine, but compared to my first time around, this is not comparable actually.

I honestly try to sugar coat it to my husband! SHHHH, don't tell him! :) He keeps saying that maybe we should rethink how many babies we really want to have... nope! I'm the one with the issues and I am NOT dying, so I still have it in my head that we will have more babies!

Okay, on to my "issues"... This pregnancy is so, so, so uncomfortable. I truly believe this baby lives in my ribs... he is always up in there like he is afraid of moving down or something. Parker would occasionally position himself up in my ribs but he definitely didn't think he had to live up in there! I can really tell that I am in the third trimester now as I am getting so tired again, and this week has been rough trying to sleep. I have to roll over every hour or so due to being so uncomfortable, or I have to get up to pee... that is always an issue though HA!

Probably my least favorite part of being pregnant this time is the pain at the bottom of my belly from my previous C-Section. If I move just right, or stand up fast or sneeze... I get a shooting pain under my belly that stops my in my tracks for a second or two! I checked with my doc, she said it had to do with the nerves being messed up. My newest issue is my ROUND LIGAMENT PAIN... ALL THE TIME. It isn't like most people describe, like from coughing, sneezing, or standing up fast... it is literally like allllllll the time. FOR REAL!  I am going to try to do some yoga to help alleviate this pain though, hopefully it helps and also I have read that yoga should be very beneficial during and after pregnancy for pre/post natal care so I am excited!

Now that I have complained like I am dying I should mention that I am so truly happy that God has entrusted our family with the blessing of carrying yet another miracle of life! I can only pray that our Lord also blesses us with a happy, healthy, and perfect little baby when he enters this world.

Even though our towns annual parade and weekend long festivities were almost a month ago, I thought that I would still share some photos of our fun!

Friday evening we walked down to the Family Block Party and had lots of fun.

Waiting in line for the blow up slide.

Free Snowcones

Free IceCream
I little rest on our walk back home.

Of course we had to stop at the next block to play on the old train cars.

Saturday morning, the whole family got to enjoy the parade.

Our First Night of VBS

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

We had our first night of Vacation Bible School tonight... and I am POOPED OUT! This stuff is exhausting! I mean chasing a three year old is always exhausting, especially when pregnant... but not being able to really choose when to just sit down and take a break is rough. Sure I can sit down along the side during any point and nobody is going to complain that the preggo lady is sitting her bum, but then my three year acts up, or wants to sit beside me... exhausting after a full day of work!

We have 3 more nights this week of VBS and I am honestly not looking forward it :(  I should have thought a little more before signing Parker up, and agreeing to take his five year old cousin, and the fact that I would be 30 weeks pregnant.

I am really hoping that the next three nights are a little easier and the kiddos get a hang of what they are supposed to be doing.

I did grow more confident in our decision to keep Little Man from attending preschool this year though! Watching him interact with other children, I see that he just isn't ready for a school setting. I am glad that we made the decision early in the year and that I am not getting nervous about sending him to school this fall.

We hope to help Parker grow this year by doing some "school" at home! We are all excited about it and not putting too much pressure on anything since he is only 3, will be 4 in December. He is unable to attend public Kindergarten until the fall of 2016 so we have plenty of time to choose whats best for our family and get ready for school!

Hello Third Trimester!

Monday, June 16, 2014

Time Flies... it really does. I never really understood that when I was younger... but like everything, you realize more when you get older how much of what those adults said is actually true! I am actually starting my third trimester with baby #2 and couldn't be more excited! This means we only have about 10 1/2 weeks until we will get to hold our precious baby boy. If Noah doesn't decide to come before then, we will make the trip to Lincoln early in the morning on August 28th for my cesarean section. We are choosing to do the c-section again since I never progressed... really at all (3 cm dilated) with Parker after over 24 hours of labor. This also guarantees that my husband won't be in another state working when we become a family of 4, unless of course Noah decides to come early, which I don't see happening!

So, as of today, I am 29 weeks pregnant and I am so eager to meet this precious baby boy. I am like the nesting mother times 50! Many moms I know never really noticed that they really went through the "nesting" period, I, on the other hand do a whole house shake down. Rearranging furniture, cleaning and wiping down cupboards and walls, washing curtains... I really can't help myself.

Right now...

Belly Button - confused... it does not poke out of my clothing but it is not an "innie" anymore

Sleep - Going about as well as could be expected. I am really tired but have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. I definitely require at least 9 hours of sleep each night though.

Cravings - I am usually very thirsty so I drink more water, and I am just loving sweet treats right now.

Weight Gain - At my last appointment I had gained 4 lbs, I am pretty sure that as of now I have gained closer to 10 lbs.

Other Symptoms - Heartburn everyday :) Slight swelling in my feet, and sore muscles.

Movement - This boy is active! I love feeling him kick and punch and squirm all around. He tends to favor my right side currently.

I am looking forward to my next appointment in one and a half weeks!

Frugal Anniversary Date Night

Monday, June 9, 2014

Hubby and I had our two year wedding anniversary a couple weeks ago and to celebrate, we stayed home. Ha! It was lovely. With our little man camping with my dad for the evening, we had the night to ourselves.

Parker and I went out to the lake around noon on Saturday to spend time with family that was camping there. Around 4:30, I headed home to start supper and Parker stayed with everybody at the lake.

Since we already had almost everything needed for a nice supper, Hubby and I decided to stay home and relax and enjoy each others company.  Jerrad has been working A LOT lately, so coming home and getting ready to go out didn't seem fun to him... and it's just not in the budget right now.

For supper I cooked a couple steaks, stuffed and baked potatoes, and green beans. We also had a salad and for dessert we had a little chocolate cake! YUM!!! The only thing I bought for this meal was the green beans and salad... told ya I was going frugal for this date night. Jerrads work gifted him the steaks, potatoes, and chocolate cake for Christmas and it came frozen, so I just reserved it for a special night.

To make things a bit fancier, I printed this banner out from The Dating Divas and hung it on the window valance.

I am gift-giver, seriously, I can't help myself. Since we are watching our budget, I looked for something fun and thoughtful. For fun, I bought a package of red licorice and just made a tag for it.
The tag says: Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, Here Are Some Twizzlers, Just For You! Love, Dakota

I went to The Dating Divas website again and found this cute idea. You can read the instructions and get the printables there if you would like to try this!

The tree has the lyrics to our wedding song printed on it.

Here it is all wrapped up and with the printable tag!

We truly enjoyed our night and I couldn't ever imagine spending the rest of my life with anybody else! This handsome cowboy was truly made just for me!

XOXO-- Dakota

Keeping Cool When The Weather Is Heating Up

Sunday, June 8, 2014

It has been getting a little warmer around here that past couple weeks... summer is really going to be here SOON! ;) Since one of our largest bills happens to be our water and light bill, I vowed to myself that I would not turn the air conditioner on until June 1st! (mission accomplished by the way) This made for some uncomfortable evenings after work but we managed. One thing that I tried to do was to get my outside work done right after I got home for work. This allowed Parker some time to play and even though I was watering plants/flowers, and taking care of little chicks and dogs in the hotter part of the day, at least I wasn't inside trying to get supper started or something in the heat! My thought was, if I am going to be working on something in the heat, it might as well be in the sunshine! :)

Parker has one of the plastic kiddie pools his great grandma bought him last year so we pulled that out of the garage and wiped it out. I filled the pool with water... and the boy jumped in... and the boy jumped out! I tried to warn him how cold it was going to be since I had JUST filled it. He couldn't contain the excitement obviously. After jumping in and out a few times, I believe he just got used to the cold and so he stayed in and played for about an hour.

I had to be careful while snapping photos... the boy likes to SpLaSh!!!! Even if he wasn't splashing the water AT me... there was still water going everywhere.

I hope to get lots of use out of this free (to us) pool this summer. We also don't have far to travel to go "the beach"... at the lake! HA! Our town swimming pool is honestly only a block away, but we will save that for rare occasions since that is obviously NOT free :)

Lets hope we have a great summer and are able to stay cool as much as possible!

Also - before I end this post, I HAVE to include a photo of my hubby... This is what my cowboy looks like in the summer if you catch him after an afternoon nap on a Sunday afternoon.

Nice tan lines Babe! This man NEVER wears shorts... even if temps are above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I believe the only time he is ever in shorts is if he is sleeping.  Also, why in the world would a cowboy ever put on tennis shoes if you are only at home and can slide on your boots? ;)
